In the mountains

We drove into the Olympic National Park at Elwha (north part, just west of Port Angeles). We drove up Whiskey Bend Road, which was a narrow, gravel road 5+ miles long, ending in a parking lot for hikers. Along the way was Lake Mills.
Then we drove up the other side of Lake Mills. This was our observation from the spot where we had lunch.

Later we went on the trail to Marymere Falls, on the south shore of Lake Crescent. A nice hike to a beautiful falls. Not much water this time of the year.

This tree was actually still alive (and very large!).

We ended that day with a visit to Lake Crescent Log Cabin Resort, which Dick's grandparents ran back in the late 40's.
